Google Calls in Help From Larry Page and Sergey Brin for A.I. Fight

Google’s Advanced Technology Review Council, a panel of executives that includes Jeff Dean, the company’s senior vice president of research and artificial intelligence, and Kent Walker, Google’s president of global affairs and chief legal officer, met less than two weeks after ChatGPT debuted to discuss their company’s initiatives, according to the slide presentation.

They reviewed plans for products that were expected to debut at Google’s company conference in May, including Image Generation Studio, which creates and edits images, and a third version of A.I. Test Kitchen is an experimental app that allows users to test prototypes of products.

Another image and video project in development was Shopping Try-on. This feature uses YouTube’s green screen to create backgrounds. Maya, an application that visualizes three-dimensional shoes, and Maya, which can be used to make wallpapers for the Pixel smartphone.

Google has an A.I. list programs it plans to offer software developers and other companies, including image-creation technology, which could bolster revenue to Google’s Cloud division. Other businesses can also use these tools to create their own A.I. prototypes in internet browsers, called MakerSuite, which will have two “Pro” versions, according to the presentation.

Google will also announce in May a tool to help you build Android apps. The tool is called Colab + Android Studio. This tool will create, complete, and fix any code that’s needed according to the presentation. PaLM-Coder 2, another code completion and generation tool, is also in development.
