West Brom scored Kyle Bartley’s goal to win a second consecutive victory at QPR under Carlos Corberan.
The Baggies beat Blackpool midweek to give Corberan his first victory since taking over. Loftus Road was a solid performance, with Bartley scoring John Swift’s free kick in the 68th minute.
Swift won the ball from Swift’s right. To break the deadlock, Bartley surpassed Leon Balogun at the centre-back.
Albion is still in the bottom 3, but they look much better under Corberan, who made an immediate impact.
Rangers on the other side have struggled since enjoying a brief period at the top Sky Bet Championship table.
Boss Mick Beale turned down the opportunity to become Wolves manager and has seen his team fail to win or score in three of their previous matches.
They appeared disjointed in the first game against an Albion side that worked hard for Chris Willock’s victory, who was able to return to action following a hamstring injury.
Grady Diangana was unable to capitalize on a golden opportunity to place Albion ahead after Rob Dickie’s error, who gave it to Jayson Moumby.
After Molumby’s shot was blocked by Seny Dieng To Diangana, the Albion forward had an open goal. However, it failed to connect properly. Rangers were then given a massive reprimand.
Dickie struggled during the initial stages. Kenneth Paal, Balogun and Kenneth Paal both gave the ball away in danger areas during the first quarter hour.
Swift’s shot was then deflected wide from the target by Diangana. The visitors continued to threaten Swift.
QPR found their rhythm later in the half. Their on-loan Aston Villa youngster Tim Iroegbunam narrowly shot wide of the nearpost before Albion goalkeeper Alex Palmer blocked Lyndon Dykes’ low shot.
West Brom, however, defended well and managed to keep their lead following Bartley’s goal.
Ilias chair came close to equalizing when his shot flashed narrowly too wide. Rangers appealed for a penalty but were denied. Conor Townsend claimed that Albert Adomah was hindered as he attempted to meet Paal’s left-wing cross.
