Everest Base Camp is a paradise for trekkers. This place is located in the snow-capped Himalayas and thousands of trekkers visit it every year.
EBC is a highly sought-after trekking destination. The breathtaking views of the mountains and wonderful trekking opportunities make it a popular destination.
The best thing about the Everest Base Camp Trek is the incredible view you get from the top of the highest mountain in the world, i.e. Everest. Other tall peaks, such as Mt. Lhotse and Cho Oyu Makalu can be found in this area.
- Trek to Phakding – 4 hours (Day 01)
You will begin your trip by boarding an exciting 30-minute flight to Lukla early in the morning and enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas at full glance as you arrive at Lukla airport. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, your hike to Phakding will start.
It is an easy 3 hour hike, through the Dudhkosi valley. You will head towards the north side from the airstrip to Chheplung (2700m) and cross the beautiful ThadoKoshi River on a suspension bridge.
- Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) – 6 hours (Day 2)
You will be starting your second day through the Valley of Dudhkosi River. You will cross the mesmerising Dudhkosi River 5 times on suspension bridges laden with prayer flags on the way to Namche.
It is a 2.5 hours climb up to Namche with two exquisite viewpoints on the way. You will enjoy the mesmerising views of M.t. Everest when it is a clear day. After 5/6 hours of hard and adventurous hiking, you will finally reach the main trading centre of the region: the famous Namche Bazaar.
- Acclimatisation in Namche – 5 hours (Day 03)
Acclimatisation is a very important part of hiking Mt. Everest Base Camp before proceeding at higher altitude, to avoid height sickness. There’s going to be a day’s hike through the villages of Khunde and Khumjung and here we can see the head of a Yeti in the monastery of the area. Start with a steep and no break one-hour climb to the Syangboche airstrip (3790m), from where you will be slowly going towards Khunde passing numerous chorten (stone Buddhist monuments).
From Khunde, is the trail eastwards to Khumjung, the largest and spread out village in Khumbu, at the foot of the sacred peak Khumbila. After enjoying a delicious meal at Khumjung, you will enjoy the splendid and picturesque mountain views. From there, you will be descending towards Namche (3540m).
- Trek to Tengboche (3790m) – 5 hours (Day 04)
The magnificent views of Everest and Ama Dablam are excellent from this part of the trek. You will pass a small settlement of Sanasa from where the trail will be dropping towards Phunkithanga (3250m).
The view from here is rightly one of the world’s most magnificent and mesmerising sceneries. After a hectic day you will be spending the night in Tengboche.
- Trek to Dingboche (4350m) – 4 hours (Day 05)
You will start your trek by climbing down through a beautiful forest, then you will cross the Imja Khola. You will be spending a relaxing night at Dingboche.
- Trek to Chhukung Valley and back to Dingboche – 5 hours (Day 06)
We will start your trek around 8:30 am up to Chhukung. You will get an entrancing view of one of the most beautiful mountains, especially Ama Dablam. To the south-west direction, the eastern face of Amadablam provides a mesmerising view of the picturesque peak. On your descent to go back down to Dingboche for the night you will probably face some strong winds.
- Trek to Lobuche (4950m) – 5 hours (Day 07)
Start the day with a climb up to the chorten trail. This is an easy climb that will last about 1.5 hours. Then you will get to Thugla at 4600 m with a tea house where you will be having a delicious lunch before trekking for another 1.5 hours.
You will begin to get close to high mountains like Mt. Pumori and Mt. Nuptse and then after a while as we proceed towards Lobuche where only basic accommodation and food is provided.
- Gorakshep (5.207m) and Everest Base Camp (5,350m) – 7 hours (Day 8)
The first part would be a little easy but an hour later the trail will start to get really hard. Once you climb about 150 m the trail gets better and easier again. Once you complete your lunch, you will begin your hike to Everest base camp.
You will be walking on a side ridge of the beautiful Khumbu glacier. After walking on the ridge for about more than an hour, you will cross the Glacier into the Everest base camp area.
- Gorakshep – Kala Patthar (5.643m) – Pheriche (4,250m) – 7 hours (Day 9)
Now you will hit Kalapathar and for that we will be leaving early in the morning. You will start your 1.5 hours hike early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise over Mount Everest and other mountains.
From Gorakshep to Lobuche it takes upto 4 hours and the hike will take you to Dzongla from Lobuche. Dzongla is the only place where you can spend the night before you cross the Chola pass.
- Pheriche – Namche Bazaar (3,440m) – 6 hours (Day 10)
From Debuche, a 1h 30m climb up takes you to Tengboche, from where you will come down to Phunkithanga at 3200 m. Then you will have a final climb towards the famous Namche Bazaar for the final party night, which is also your last chance to have a close view of the mesmerising and magnificent mountains.
- Trek to Lukla – 8 hours (Day 11)
The trail from Namche to Lukla is mostly a downhill trek until you reach the flat part. You will exit the beautiful Sagarmatha National park and then reach Lukla after a final effort of climbing stairs. The next day, You will finally fly to Kathmandu very early in the morning, enjoying really nice and picturesque views of the most beautiful Himalayan range.
