The Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital (Can Ruti, Badalona), the Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona and the Lluita Foundation against AIDS and Infectious Malalties have called on the population to participate in phase II B of the Hipra vaccine (the Catalan one) against covid-19.
The study is evaluated by the Ethics Committee of the Hospital Clínic and the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps) with the participation of several Spanish hospitals.
However, not everyone can participate as a volunteer in this trial for the development of the vaccine against covid-19, but the researchers have imposed a series of requirements.
Thus, all those over 18 years of age who have received the Covid-19 vaccine made by Pfizer at least six months ago will be able to volunteer .
Volunteers will receive either a booster dose of the new investigational vaccine or an already marketed vaccine and will be followed up for up to a year to find out “their safety and response” (immunity), according to the centers in their respective press releases. .
At the end of August, the pharmaceutical company Hipra began phase I and II A of the clinical trial of the vaccine with the administration of the first doses in humans at the Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona and the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.
Then, the director of the Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Girona (Idibgi), Marga Nadal, clarified that the trial calendar will be one year and, when asked about a possible commercialization of the vaccine, she opted to go “step by step” .
