The Coordinator of Residences 5 + 1 have denounced to the Prosecutor’s Office the restrictions due to the fifth wave of covid established by the Generalitat for users of residences and their families.
As reported by the Betevé chain, the Coordinator of Residences 5 + 1, which groups together relatives of elderly people who live in publicly owned residences , argues the complaint that the reduction of visits or the limitation of the exits of residents are illegal and they condemn the elderly to ” savage isolation “.
It points out that in order to restrict the right to assembly and confine people at home, it is necessary to have authorization from the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia, as they have done with the restrictions that affect the population as a whole, such as the curfew. .
The coordinator’s spokeswoman, María José Carcelén, has maintained that the elderly who live in residences feel like they are in a prison and that “has a very high price on their mental and emotional health.”
Carcelén has valued the proposal of the Ministry of Health to recommend that a minimum of two weekly coronavirus tests be carried out on workers in nursing homes, but considers it insufficient.
These tests would be aimed at workers who reject the vaccine or who still do not have the complete schedule.
From the Coordinator of Residences 5 + 1 they request screening of both workers and residents and that the residences have enough staff to fulfill the sectorizations that allow the bubbles to be maintained, which they consider is not being done.
