But, did you know that the new ITV of 2021 comes into force next Tuesday, June 1 with changes in its rules and fines ranging between 200 and 500 euros ?
In reality, the changes are not very significant , and will affect a small part of motorists. Until now, if an error occurred in the ABS system in those cars that are not required to carry it, it was considered a minor fault. But as of June 1, if these vehicles have the braking system installed, they are required to work perfectly. Otherwise, it will be considered a serious offense and the ITV will not be passed.
The second modification of the ITV of 2021 even plays in favor of the users, since from June the operators will be able to consult the data of the driving license electronically through the general registry of vehicles of the DGT, so that the Inspection may go ahead if you have forgotten the printed documents. Finally, a registration process for vehicles from the United Kingdom will be included in the new ITV , after the application of Brexit.
Sanctions
The changes to the ITV 2021 not only affect the changes during the inspection, but also record modifications in the sanctions related to the Technical Inspection of Vehicles, with fines ranging from 200 to 500 euros depending on three cases that may be give.
ITV expired . Having the ITV after the deadline will be sanctioned as of June 1 with a fine of 200 euros, plus the obligation to pass it immediately while the vehicle is not deregistered. And it is that, even if the car is stopped on the street or in a garage, it is required to have the MOT in force.
Unfavorable ITV . If the inspection has not been passed due to serious defects in the vehicle, the user has a maximum period of 2 months to repair them and return to the ‘examination’. Furthermore, it is only allowed to travel to the workshop and to the inspection site. Although those two months are exceeded, or the driver is caught on a route other than the one specified (although this is more interpretable), he will be punished with a fine of 200 euros.
Negative ITV . If the vehicle has received a negative rating for detecting very serious defects, it will be completely prevented from driving. Thus, it could only be transported to the repair site by crane. But if the user is exposed to circulate with him, even to go directly to the workshop, he risks being sanctioned with a fine of 500 euros.
