The world’s largest seafood show, the Seafood Expo Global , scheduled to take place in September this year, has been postponed to April next year. The Diversified Communications firm, organizer of the fair, announced this Wednesday that the 28th edition will take place from April 26 to 28, 2022 in Barcelona. The event had to be postponed from its original date, April 27-29, 2021, to September 7-9, 2021.
“Our top priority is to have our customers’ best interests in mind,” said Liz Plizga, Group Vice President of Diversified Communications. “After assessing the concerns of suppliers and buyers about the continuing uncertainties caused by the current COVID-19 situation globally, it has become clear that 2021 would still be too early to host an international event capable of providing the global experience that add value to the seafood community, “the organization said in a statement.
Seafood Expo Global / Seafood Processing Global is the world’s largest seafood exhibition, an event that brings together more than 29,000 industry professionals from around the world. The show has the representation of more than 158 countries and the complex regulations and governmental restrictions of each country to deal with the covid “make it impossible to hold a large-scale global event in September 2021.”
“We are committed to Barcelona”, added Plizga. “We will continue working with Fira de Barcelona and the city to ensure that we can hold an event in person that adds value and that brings together, at the Gran Vía venue in 2022, the international representation that makes Seafood Expo Global / Seafood Processing Global a global fishing marketplace and the largest seafood show in the world. “
“We have already received contracts for the 2022 edition and a strong interest in participating from all sectors of the seafood industry globally. We look forward to celebrating the most successful first edition in the magnificent city of Barcelona ”, said Wynter Courmont, Director of Diversified Communications.
