Basildon Renaissance Partnership, English Partnerships and Hanson Plc

Developers are increasingly required to undertake extensive public consultation prior to submitting planning applications.  In the public sector, the master-planning of urban centres requires wide community involvement to generate the necessary support for political and commercial decisions.  Smye Holland Associates has worked with a number of partnerships and developers to secure planning consents.

Smye Holland Associates worked with the Basildon Renaissance Partnership on public consultation for a substantial mixed-use redevelopment project in the centre of the town.  Public meetings, newsletters and media relations helped to secure necessary planning consents and attract private sector development interest.

We assisted English Partnerships and Milton Keynes District Council prepare consultation and communications plans for a new Millennium Community at Oakgrove on the outskirts of Milton Keynes.

In the private sector we helped Hanson plc with the public relations needed to obtain planning consent and then sale of the first sites for housing and commercial development at the new township of Hampton, the largest project of its type in Europe.

We worked with the owners of the Vancouver shopping centre in King’s Lynn on the public relations aspects of plans for redevelopment of the centre.  Working with the borough council on a joint communications plan for the centre’s tenants and the wider King’s Lynn community eventually led to the granting of planning consent.
