Bankit was a national campaign to help local authorities increase public participation in recycling household waste. Smye Holland Associates publicised the Bankit resource through the media to drive local authorities to its website and encourage the use of the materials that were available through it.
Bankit was a not-for-profit resource supported by Rockware Glass. It helped Rockware Glass to meet its industry recycling targets by stimulating the collection of used glass from the public.
We were involved in continually developing the resource and communicating its value to local authorities through a wide range of marketing activities. This included maintaining the Bankit website which provided a central source of reliable information on recycling, designed to guide waste management professionals on meeting government recycling targets. We kept the website up to date with news, information and the latest government legislation.
We also conducted e-marketing campaigns to promote awareness of the Bankit resource and encourage recycling and were involved in a wide range of marketing activities from public and media relations to exhibitions. In addition we wrote copy for Bankit campaigns and leaflets which were used by local authorities for their promotions.
Bankit proved to be a popular resource for local authorities nationwide. It has now been subsumed within the Waste Action Forum for which we provide a similar range of services.
