The Levitt Group

The Levitt Group – named after the profession’s founding father Theodore Levitt – aims to offer ‘advanced knowledge for senior marketers'. Membership is open to chartered marketers and Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) (www.cim.co.uk).

The new group is the CIM’s ‘special interest group’ for senior marketers. It exists solely to maintain and develop the knowledge, skills and capabilities of its members. Its focus is on strategy and organisational competitiveness at the leading edge of marketing knowledge.

“IT’S THE CUSTOMER, STUPID” - SENIOR MARKETING PROFESSIONALS IN PURSUIT OF MARKETING KNOWLEDGE

The Levitt Group (www.levittgroup.org.uk) – the organisation which brings together some of the UK’s most qualified marketers – is focusing on the customer at its next weekend event.

To be held at Ashridge Business School (www.ashridge.org.uk) in Berkhamsted on 11 and 12 June 2010, the event is open to chartered marketers and Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) (www.cim.co.uk). It includes presentations from five speakers at the cutting edge of their speciality in addition to a private dinner, accommodation and networking.

To maximise use of delegates’ time while making the minimum impact on both the working week and the weekend, the event starts at 17:30 on the Friday evening and finishes at lunchtime on Saturday.

Speakers on the Friday night are Craig Lee – Head of Customer Experience and CRM Programmes for the Emirates Group – talking on “Defining the branded customer experience: every touch point matters!” and marketer and author Laurie Young talking on “Marketing technology as a service”.

On Saturday the speakers are Nicky Hewgill, senior partner marketing manager at Nokia Corp talking about “Pioneering image recognition as a mobile marketing solution”; Ian McLernon, commercial director at Parfums Christian Dior, talking about “Running the show with Dior in the UK & Ireland”; and Martin Evans, senior fellow at Cardiff Business School, talking on “Opportunity or Orwell? The future of data-informed marketing”.

The event qualifies for seven hours of ‘continuing professional development‘ (CPD) time under the CIM’s CPD system.

SENIOR MARKETING PROFESSIONALS COMING TO LEEDS – GIVING UP FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY IN PURSUIT OF MARKETING KNOWLEDGE

Some of the UK’s most qualified marketing professionals will be at Weetwood Hall Conference Centre and Hotel in Leeds next month (March) to brush up their skills at an event titled ‘Advanced knowledge for senior marketers’.

In order to fit the event into the crowded personal and professional lives of senior marketers, organisers from the Levitt Group (www.levittgroup.org.uk) have arranged the event to take place on a Friday night and Saturday morning.

Jeremy Bassett of the Levitt Group said: “To maximise use of delegates’ time, while making the minimum impact on both the working week and the weekend, the event starts at 17:30 on Friday 19 March and finishes at lunchtime on Saturday 20 March.”

The event is open only to chartered marketers and Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) (www.cim.co.uk). It includes presentations from four speakers at the cutting edge of their speciality in addition to a private dinner, accommodation and networking.

Speakers on the Friday night are Neil Pakey, deputy chief executive of John Lennon Airport who will talk about the power of PR, and Professor Stan Paliwoda of Strathclyde University will talk on the subject of 'international markets - the bigger picture'.

On Saturday, the speakers are William Higham, author of 'The next big thing - spotting and forecasting consumer trends for profit', and Helen Curtis, head of marketing for global portfolio at BT Global Services, who will add a couple more Ps to the marketing mix - 'proposition' and 'partners'.

The event has been organised by the Levitt Group (www.levittgroup.org.uk) – the organisation which brings together some of the UK’s most qualified marketers.

It includes presentations from four speakers at the cutting edge of their speciality in addition to a private dinner, accommodation and networking.
