LITRE METER HELPS GET IT RIGHT WITH NEW ONLINE METER SELECTION SYSTEM

Now it is even easier for engineers to select the right flow meter for specific applications. UK flowmeter specialist Litre Meter (www.litremeter.com) has added new functionality to its website to enable its customers to accurately configure meters to meet their specific requirements.

The new flowmeter selection system enables users to drill down through specific products and options to find exactly the right meter for the job. Customers can browse by brand, type, the media to be measured, type and accuracy. There are 18 different filters to make it easy to select the exact meter required.

Litre Meter chairman Charles Wemyss explained: “We have tried to make our website as accessible and easy to navigate as possible.

“Our customers can now select exactly the meter they need to meet their needs and get the information they require before contacting our team for more detailed data.

“The whole process is intuitive and saves time. Customers can select from any of the meters in the Litre Meter range and get further information at their fingertips before ordering.

“For example, the filter allows the selection of a specific meter type, let’s say a VFF meter. This selection currently returns ten results. This can be further filtered by, for example, selecting the flow range required. Selecting a range of 0-4 ml/h returns one result – our LF15 positive displacement flowmeter, which has a range of between 0 and 45 litres per hour.”

“Details of the meter appear in the result window with options to select more information or download a PDF of the meter’s specification.”

Users can also select meters by specific requirements rather than by type or brand. Other options include by pipe diameter, end fitting, maximum temperature, pressure and rangeability.

Charles Wemyss added: “Selecting an autoclave end fitting, for example, returns 15 results. Information is delivered about each of the meters meeting the selection criteria.

“Users can read through the information on each of the meters that are available or filter the selection further, by brand for example.”

Other selection filters include accreditation where customers can choose ATEX, Exd, Exi, UL or GOST accredited meters, and features such as data logging, power type, MODBUS or Fieldbus.

Litre Meter’s new meter selection system is live now at www.litremeter.com.

LITRE METER’S CAROLINE SHOOTS FOR THE TOP

An administrator at UK flowmeter specialist Litre Meter (www.litremeter.com) has been selected to join the England Down the Line (DTL) clay pigeon shooting team.

Caroline Stanbrook, who has been shooting for just three years, was selected as a member of the England DTL squad and competed recently at the Home International in Scotland.

She narrowly missed out on selection last year by just three points. Caroline said: “It was great to be selected this time around. You have to shoot really really well to get into the squad.

“It is very tight between getting selected and missing out on a place.”

Caroline’s son Steven missed out on an England place by just two points at selection weekends held in Yorkshire and Northumberland. Caroline said: “Shooters get three points for hitting the target with their first cartridge and two points if they hit it with their second cartridge, so that shows how close Steven was to getting a place in the team.”

In DTL the ground layout consists of five shooting positions (pegs) in a 16-yard arc from a single trap house. The targets are fixed in terms of speed and elevation but are variable from side to side to a maximum of 22.5 degrees either side. A round usually consists of 25 targets for each competitor fired away from the shooter to fly 50-55 yards.

Each competitor must shoot at five clay targets from each of the five pegs. Shooting alternately each competitor shoots at the five targets before moving 'down the line' to the next position on their right. The shooter calls for each target and has two shots to break the target. Three points are awarded for a first barrel kill and two for a second barrel kill.

A perfect score would be all 25 kills being made with the first barrel thus 75 points would be awarded. This is usually abbreviated to 25/75. It is possible to win a competition by breaking fewer clays than other competitors. Two first barrel kills is the equivalent of three second barrel kills.

Caroline travels up and down the country to compete in what is a high pressure sport. She said: “DTL is a concentration game. You have five different people shooting at the same time so you have to focus on what you’re doing.

“If one clay gets away you need to quickly focus on the next one so you don’t drop too many points. It’s not just about picking up a gun and having a laugh.”

Litre Meter chairman Charles Wemyss said: “I am delighted that Caroline has been so successful with her shooting in such a short time. Everyone at Litre Meter wishes her the best of luck.”

LITRE METER DELIVERS DIGMESA FLOW METERS FOR TUDOR TEA AND COFFEE

UK flowmeter specialist Litre Meter (www.litremeter.com) has supplied 500 Digmesa (www.digmesa.com) flowmeters to Tudor Tea and Coffee (www.tudorcoffee.co.uk) for use in its coffee vending machines.

Digmesa meters are used worldwide in vending machines where drinks must be served in precisely measured quantities.

The meters offer a measuring accuracy of +/- 0.25 per cent, even in long term operation and across a temperature range from -10 to +120°C. The design is based on detection of electronic pulses generated by an impeller turned by the fluid flow.

Different materials, bearings and electrical properties can be supplied to meet the needs of different applications, including variants that can be used to automatically switch off pumps or other equipment if flows fall below specified levels.

The Digmesa product line complements the range of flowmeters built by Litre Meter in its own premises in Buckingham. The company offers a broad range of metering technologies suitable for virtually every liquid, gas or steam measurement application and has particular expertise in measuring low flow rates.

Charles Wemyss of Litre Meter said: “Litre Meter’s strength has traditionally been in flowmeters for particularly demanding situations, often with meters almost custom-designed and built for particular applications. Digmesa gives our customers access to an off-the-shelf range of accurate and robust meters which meet the needs of a vast range of drink vending, blending and dispensing applications.

“These Digmesa meters ensure that Tudor Tea and coffee vending machines dispense the carefully roasted coffee in precisely controlled amounts to ensure a consistent cup of coffee every time.”
